Taylor K. Vecsey followed in the footsteps of a long line of journalists in her family. A native New Yorker, she earned her first byline in a newspaper in high school and got her start working in the sports department of The Post and Courier during her days at the College of Charleston.

She began her career at The East Hampton Star, where she worked, mainly on the police and breaking news beat, at various times over the past 15 years, while winning several journalism awards. She has held various titles including web editor of The Times Review News Group on the North Fork, reporter for The New York Post, web editor and associate editor at The Independent, and now the Editor in Chief at Behind The Hedges at Dan's Papers, owned by Schneps Media.

Over the past decade, she has volunteered with the Bridgehampton Fire Department, serving as an emergency medical technician. For the past five years, she has served as the EMS captain, leading the department during the COVID-19 pandemic.
